CONCEPT

A double sided and bilingual comic book about the heroic adventures of a refugee child and a local child, both told from their perspectives. An Unexpected Journey uses storytelling to improve the lives of refugee children, while giving host nation children a better understanding of the background of refugees. Supplemented with education packs for teachers and parents, the project fosters empathy and learning among all children in the community. Both sides of the book finish with the characters meeting in the middle, concluding their adventure together. An additional website gives children the opportunity to create their own superhero characters and stories.
