Os carregamentos de alimentos necessários para alimentar os cidadãos de todas as cidades do mundo moldam essas cidades e a paisagem rural ao seu redor. Nesta sessão especial, moderada por David Kester, o chef de cozinha brasileiro Rodrigo Oliveira, o jornalista holandês Jan Knikker e o food designer britânico Sam Bompas, discutirão o impacto da comida na nossa vida nas cidades.

Food has much more impact on the city than one might think, just as the city has lots of impact on food. In 2013 the British architect Carolyn Steel, author of the Hungry City, explained at WDCD how every day for a city the size of London, with eight million inhabitants, enough food for thirty million meals must be produced, imported, sold, cooked, eaten and disposed of again. In proportion, São Paulo, with some 20 million inhabitants, requires between 60 and 80 million meals a day.

The shiploads of food needed to feed the citizens of every city in the world shape those cities and the surrounding countryside. In this breakout moderated by David Kester, top Brazilian chef Rodrigo Oliveira, Dutch architect Jan Knikker and British food experience designer Sam Bompas discuss the impact of food on our city lives.
